Scouting report:

Joe Vancena
Head of Product Marketing
Founder
I spent the last 7 years building B2B software companies from $0 to $15M ARR.

I've created unique playbooks for capturing your first 4 customers, your next 40 customers, and your next 400 customers.
In 2017, I was employee #5 and Head of Growth at Loop, a B2B reverse logistics startup. We helped brands cut costs and retain revenue by automating the returns & exchanges experience.

I acquired, closed, & onboarded the first 100 customers as a team of 1.
We were attacking a well-funded competitor that had 8x more sales reps and 10x more customers.

I uniquely positioned our sales pitch & created a pricing model that exploited their weaknesses. Their business closed in 2023.
In 2019, I founded the product marketing department at Loop.

We raised our Series A and rapidly hired engineers, sales, and support. Communication broke down & we needed a team to continuously built assets that connect the dots.
In 2020, I hired & managed the growing product marketing team at Loop, supporting 4 product managers and more than 50 new feature releases.

We created the product launch playbook, sales enablement playbook, and new hire training playbook.
In 2021, I left to become co-founder & CEO at Status, a B2B personalization startup. We helped brands capture first-party data by driving shoppers to create accounts.

I led fundraising efforts and closed our $2.5M pre-seed round.
We were inventing a new category with virtually no interest & no competition.

Shoppers weren't creating accounts.
Brands weren't building accounts.
Investors weren't investing in accounts.

My job was to prove everyone wrong.
We grew for 31 straight months, landing 7 of Shopify's top 25 merchants.

Churn was nonexistent: 8% all-time.

And our final 6 months were 6 of our 7 largest in history. Back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back.
After successfully creating the category, we learned our product & vision was being recreated inside the largest commerce company in the world. We shutdown in 2025.

The future of commerce is called "signed-in shopping".
Now, I support early-stage startups through $15M ARR and beyond.

I will certainly help you identify what to do, but more importantly, I will help you identify what NOT to do.

1.  Intense focus, clarity, and direction.
2. Stack rank & crank.
Give your product the marketing it deserves.
